Glenn Youngkin’s 17 year-old son tried to vote on Election Day. Officials confirmed this. cnn.
Terry McAuliffe was defeated in the race for governor by the Republican.
CNN reports that Youngkin’s father tried twice to vote but was denied.
“The young man presented identification, but was not eligible for registration and voting because of his age,” Scott O. Konopasek (Fairfax County’s general clerk) said to CNN in a statement.
Konopasek stated that Youngkin was given a voter register form and encouraged to vote as soon as he qualified.
Konopasek did not believe that the teen made false statements or disturbed the mood and therefore the 17-year old is not being charged.
Youngkin’s campaign claims Youngkin was Youngkin’s son who “misunderstood Virginia’s election law” and went to school after he was told that he could no longer vote.
