The Ciudad Juarez Art Museum has a panoramic painting of a female photographer in the north of the country on the table
Despite its opening, the Ciudad Juárez Art Museum continues to arrange virtual events for public appreciation, such as the dialogue table “Female Photographer on the Border: Gender Perspectives in Photography”.
The invitation to participate in this discussion is public, because the broadcast on April 16th at 6 pm (Ciudad Juarez time) will be free through the museum’s Facebook page.
“On the northern border, two countries and countless cultures overlap. In this cluster, several photographers document their lives through photography”, the event invitation will invite Edith Cota (Sonora), Alicia Tsuchiya (Ensenada, Baja California) , Liliana Hueso (Tijuana, Baja California) participated. Mayra Martell (Juarez, Chihuahua) and Velia de la Cruz (Paral, Chihuahua).
The topics that will be discussed at the table involve border life, the photography movement, the position of women in trade, and the personal projects of each guest.
Alicia will talk about her experience as an editor for the picture column of the “El Septentrión” magazine, the suggestions they received and the content that has been published. She has been the editor of Hablemos de Foto since she was in Femgrafía, especially what she received during the Group Show call.
Liliana will present her project “At Home, lenchas y marimachas”, which is related to the extensive literature of various lesbian and transgender families during the pandemic.
Mayra will discuss how to record absences related to the disappearance of women in Ciudad Juárez, and Edith will discuss, among other issues, the panorama of Sonora’s women’s photography.
Finally, Velia will talk about her “Photographer of the North” project and how it emerged from her experience as a journalist in the central part of the country.
