Scientists have determined that HIV is no longer a virus that causes AIDS in a woman from Argentina.
According to a study published in Annals of Internal Medicine, the woman is the second person documented to have her immune system heal them.
According to the HIV Center, the 30-year-old mother was diagnosed with HIV for the first time in 2013. NBC News.
“I have a healthy family. I don’t have to medicate, and I live as though nothing has happened. This is already a privilege,” she said to NBC News.
The study’s co-authors said that the medical community should investigate why the woman’s immune system was so strong.
HIV/AIDS isn’t uncommon. According to the Centers for Disease Control, HIV can be managed with medical care.
