Van Horn, Texas (Associated Press)-Hollywood’s Captain Kirk, 90-year-old William Shatner, flew into space on Wednesday in a fusion of science fiction and scientific reality, riding in Jeff Bezos’ blue A ship built by Seyuan Company has reached the final frontier.
Three fellow Star Trek passengers and the Star Trek hero traveled approximately 66 miles (106 km) above West Texas Desert in a fully-automated space capsule. Then, they safely parachuted back to Earth during a flight lasting more than 10 minutes.
Bezos was excited to hear Shatner tell him, “You did something.” The words rushed out like a torrent from his mouth. “What you gave to me was the most profound experience.” He stated, “I do not believe I can ever recover from this experience.”
He described how the darkness between space and blue sky is a moving experience that made him wonder, “Is it death like this?”
Shatner was the oldest person to have ever been in space. He broke the previous record of a passenger who made a similar trip in July aboard the Bezos spacecraft. This created an 8-year-old record. The flight takes approximately three minutes and includes observation of the curvature earth’s surface as well as weightlessness.
Sci-fi fans rejoice at the chance to see James T. Kirk, the captain of the USS Enterprise starship go places American TV stars have not been.
Jackie Cortez, Blue Origin’s launch commentator, said that Captain James Tiberio Kirk going into space was a moment that made her nervous. . She stated that she, like many others was attracted by “Star Trek” and the space industry.
Bezos is an avid Star Trek fan. The Amazon founder made a guest appearance in Star Trek as an alien. Shatner also travelled for free as his invited guest.
Given its inherent appeal to baby boomers, celebrity observers and space enthusiasts, this launch has brought invaluable star power to Bezos’ spaceship company. Shatner appeared in the original TV series “Star Trek”, which ran from 1966 to 1969. This was when the United States was trying to conquer the moon. Shatner also continued to star in several “Star Trek” movies.
Bezos drove the four passengers to the tarmac and accompanied them to a platform higher than the ground. After they boarded their 60-foot rocket, he closed the hatch. The jubilant Bezos greeted them as the capsule returned to Earth, covered by a bright blue-red parachute.
“Hello, astronaut. “Welcome to Earth!” Bezos opened a hatch and was embraced by Shatner. Alan Shepard is the name of the new Shepard capsule. He was the first American to reach space.
The flight takes place as space tourism begins to take off. It allows passengers to ride on ships designed and operated in part by the richest people in the country.
