This is the first product developed by a non-Western country for Covid-19 to be supported by the organization
According to Reuters, the World Health Organization announced on Friday that it has approved the Covid-19 vaccine of China’s state-owned pharmaceutical company Sinopharm for emergency use.
The vaccine is one of the two main Chinese injections that have been collectively injected into hundreds of millions of people at home and abroad. It has become the first vaccine against Covid-19 developed for non-Western countries and approved by OMS.
This is also the first time that the World Health Organization has approved the emergency use of Chinese vaccines for infectious diseases.
The World Health Organization’s emergency list is a reference for national regulatory agencies to refer to product safety and effectiveness, and will include injections into Covax, a global plan to provide vaccines to poor countries.
Last week, the World Health Organization has urgently approved the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna.
