Weeknd, Megan Thee stallion and Roddy Ricch are all best nominees for the iHeartRadio Music Awards next month. Bad Bunny, Karol G and Ozuna are some of the nominated Latin artists.
Weeknd received eight nominations on Wednesday, including male singer of the year, competing with Ricch, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber and Post Malone, and the song of the year “Blinding Lights”.
Ricch and Megan Thee Stallion each received 7 mentions, including hip-hop singers this year. Also participate in DaBaby category competitions, including Lil Baby and Pop Smoke.
Megan Thee Stallion won the Female Artist of the Year Award together with Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift.
The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on May 27 at Fox at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. This is an exception to the virtual awards ceremony caused by the pandemic last year. The 2020 iHeartRadio Awards Gala was cancelled and the winners were announced on the radio.
Other candidate songs of the year include “Circles” by Malone, “Do n’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa, “Rockstar” by Ricch by DaBaby, and “Watermelon Candy” by Harry Styles.
Dr. Luke has received creative updates with popular singles such as Doja Cat’s “Say So” and has won this year’s Grammy Awards for seven years. This is when he was nominated as the best producer of the year. Competing with Dr. Luke are Andrew Watt, Frank Dukes, Louis Bell and Max Martin, the latter of whom has been involved with Kesha’s In litigation.
The nominees for Latin or Reggae Pop Singer of the Year are Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Karol G, Maluma and Ozuna.
Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Maren Morris and Thomas Rhett Will compete for the Country Artist of the Year Award.
BTS, Dan + Shay, Jonas Brothers, Maroon 5 and 21 pilots will compete for the best duo or team.
The award ceremony will recognize the most popular artists and songs of 2020 on the iHeartMedia radio station and iHeartRadio app in the United States, which will include live performances and success stories of the winners. The radio station and app will also broadcast the show.
