Madrid. (European Media)-In January, Trump’s supporters traveled to Washington and threatened Nancy Pelosi as a way to kill her. He acknowledged that they were accused in one of the Crimes, and could be sentenced to as much as two years imprisonment.
Cleveland Meredith, the defendant, traveled to Washington on January 6 with the intention of participating in a demonstration supporting Trump. This led to an attack at Capitol Hill. Court documents state that he didn’t arrive in time because of traffic problems.
He sent a message to a family member the next day in which he said that he was considering “shooting Pelosi’s head” using an emoji featuring a purple demon-face face. According to the Washington Post report, the defendant claimed that this was “political overamplification,” but eventually admitted to threatening Pelosi.
The prosecutor’s office has agreed to drop other charges against him related to possession of weapons and ammunition. Security forces searched his hotel room and truck and found a rifle and a pistol along with approximately 2,500 rounds ammunition. This would have made his threat even more serious.
The judgment will not be made public until December 14th. It will depend on Meredith’s intentions and ability to follow her message. At the moment, Meredith will remain in a temporary jail.
