MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities say two Postal Service workers have been fatally shot at a postal facility in Memphis, the third high-profile shooting in west Tennessee in recent weeks.
Officials have confirmed Tuesday that a third postal worker was the shooter. They also say that the victim died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
U.S. Susan Link, the U.S. postal inspector, told reporters that three postal workers had been shot to death at a carrier annex located in a historic Memphis neighborhood.
There were no identities or motives released.
The shooting occurred in the Orange Mound neighborhood southeast of Memphis, at a postoffice facility.
In recent weeks, Tennessee has been the center of high-profile shootings. A man killed one person after shooting 15 people at Kroger in late September. He also died from a self-inflicted shotgunshot.
A teenager was then shot in the school’s hallways days later. Memphis police arrested the shooter.
