This behavior was described by the filmmakers as “strange” or “absolutely chilling.” The local media posted the image to help locate the attacker. It was then possible to locate Stemen and discover that the contents of her syringe contained semen.
After obtaining a search warrant from the suspect’s home, the authorities found a syringe in the driver’s door containing an unknown liquid.
Other syringes were found at the defendant’s residence, which contained “an unknown substance. Police also discovered the sweatshirt, pants, and shoes that were worn by the defendant in the surveillance footage.
A search warrant was also issued for Stemen DNA matching to the semen in the vehicle.

On June 16, 2020, Stemen pleaded guilty to first and second degree assault. He was also guilty of second-degree sexual assault for contact with a 17-year-old girl.
Stemen has been convicted of several other crimes. According to the Independent, he was convicted six times between 1986 and 1996.
