Manchester United fans invaded Old Trafford on Sunday, entered the stadium and asked the American owner to sell the club, thus delaying the start of the Premier League game against Liverpool.
After the owners participated in their failed attempts to join Manchester United to the UEFA Super League and the debt accumulated by the English clubs, dissatisfaction with the owners of the Glaser family intensified.
The protesters shouted: “Get out of our club.” At the same time, the flares were lit.
The family also owns the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which has been keeping a distance from the club’s fans since the acquisition of United in 2005.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, fans of English football matches were not allowed to show up, but they managed to break into the stadium. They managed to climb over the access point.
The protesters wore green and gold scarves and ignited flares in the original colors of the team founded in 1878. More than 100 fans managed to sneak into the stadium.
If Manchester United lose the game on Sunday, Manchester City will be crowned the Premier League champion. Manchester United is the most successful team in the English League, with 20 titles, but has not been established since 2013.
The match against Liverpool was originally scheduled for 3:30 pm local time (1530 GMT).
