The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published a health advisoryWednesday, following “recent increases of flu activity.”
The CDC states that flu activity remains low, although recent increases in young adults have been noted.
According to the advisory, “CDC is also aware that influenza outbreaks have occurred in universities and colleges in many states.”
Flu vaccines are available for people six months old and older. The CDC states that the flu vaccine protects against four influenza viruses.
The CDC states that “because influenza activity was low last year, we anticipate a lower level community protection that we rely upon year after year in order to reduce the risk for a severe influenza outbreak.”
