SWEDEN — Magdalena Andersson became Sweden’s first female prime minister on Wednesday. But she resigned within hours of being elected.
According to Sweden’s official Twitter account Andersson resigned following a budget defeat in parliament. The opposition party approved the budget.
Andersson is the leader of Social Democratic Party. She stated she wants to become prime Minister again, but this time under a one party government, the government stated. BBC.
The speaker of the Swedish parliament stated that he would consult eight leaders from the country before announcing the direction of the government.
According to the Swedish Twitter account, “The current government will be an interim government while a new government is formed.”
