Three people were injured in the shooting, two students and one adult
According to local media reports, on Thursday, at least two students and an adult were injured in gunfire at a school in Idaho, USA. The perpetrator of the attack was arrested by police shortly afterwards.
The incident occurred at Rigby High School in Rigby Town, and the police arrested suspicious persons.
Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson pointed out in a statement to the Idaho News that the detainee was a student.
Kerry Harmon, spokesperson for the Idaho Falls Fire Department, said the three injured were stable.
The principal of the Jefferson School District, Chad Martin, told reporters that on Thursday he faced the “worst nightmare” that education authorities could face anywhere.
During the incident, the students were evacuated to a nearby middle school, where they were picked up by their parents.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Rigby Middle School has approximately 1,500 students.
This February marks the third anniversary of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, a town about 46 miles (75 kilometers) north of Miami where 17 people were killed and 17 others injured.
