Southwest Airlines cancelled more flights Monday following a weekend of service disruptions which left travelers across the country stranded.
FlightAware’s flight tracking system website363 Southwest flights were cancelled and 869 were delayed Monday.
The Associated PressAccording to reports, the Dallas-based airline blamed “operational challenges” for more than 1,900 cancellations on Saturday and Sunday.
In a tweetFederal Aviation Administration (FAA) refuted these claims and stated that there have been no reports of traffic problems since Friday.
According to the AP, the delays occurred shortly after Southwest pilots union requested a federal court block the airline from ordering that all employees be vaccinated for COVID-19.
Southwest Airlines Pilots Association denied that they were protesting and stated in a statement that they could “state with confidence that our Pilots do not participate or take part in official or informal work actions.”
They stated that pilots would continue to override poor planning by SWA management and any other operational challenges. This will allow them to be the most productive pilots around the globe.
