Simone Biles, gymnast, said she has trouble doing gymnastics because of her “twisties.”
In an interview NBC’s Hoda Kotb on “Today,”Biles wept as she described the devastating effects it has had on her mental well-being.
Biles stated that “I don’t believe people understand the magnitude” of what he went through.
The gold medalist gymnast believes there’s a connection between the “twisties,” which she described as her mind, body and emotions not being in sync and suppressing her feelings after Dr. Larry Nassar’s sexual abuse.
Biles explained that therapy helps her to deal with the trauma of the past and move on.
She is currently on tour with other Olympic gymnasts but said that her stunts don’t involve twisting. She hopes that she can still twist in the air in the future.
