JACKSON, Wyo. (AP). Officials in Wyoming claim that media coverage of a woman killed in a car accident helped searchers locate a body in a separate case.
Officials from Teton County Search & Rescue say that the body found Tuesday in Teton Pass matches Robert Lowery, 46, of Houston. Robert was reported missing Aug. 20.
According to the Associated PressLowery’s body was discovered 45 miles away from Gabby Petito, 22 years old.
According to the AP, Lowery was last seen in a black baseball cap with a letter “P” in gold.
Lowery was photographed by hotel cameras in a bag with the Nike logo on it. The bag, which searchers said matched the body description, was captured with his body, the AP reported.
His cause of death is unknown at this time.
Petito’s remains were found near Grand Teton National Park on September 11.
She was on a roadtrip with her boyfriend when she went missing.
Investigators claim that Petito’s mention of Lowery led investigators to information about Lowery.
Lowery’s sister told the Jackson Hole News & Guide that he had been “a sweet, gentle boy”.
