Border Judo took part in the U-15 match, which was held in Dominican Republic
Saúl Fernández from Juarez won a bronze medal at the Pan American Judo Championships for the second time in his career. Yesterday, he took third in the U-15-64kg category at the Dominica Children’s Judo Championships.
Saúl won the gold medal at the National Championship in Oaxtepec, Morelos, and thus won his third Pan American Championship ticket. Abel Lozada (12 years old) was also a champion in border judo but couldn’t participate due to financial limitations.
Saul, 14, lost the first game against Anderson Arias (Dominican Republic), at 14 years old. Luis Correa, from Colombia, was defeated by him. Sol won the right to compete for the bronze medal when Arias reached his final. Anna Ortiz, from Ecuador, was defeated.
Judo players hailing from Juarez won the bronze medal at Guadalajara 2019 and fifth in Guayaquil 2018 in their experience.
2021 is a bumper year for Saúl. He won the Yamaguchi Chiyoshi National Championship gold medal in Aguascalientes in April. Next, at the Conrad National Games, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, U-15, won the gold medal with the U-64 kg group. Additionally, the Oaxtepec team won the first place and the bronze medal from the Dominican Republic was awarded.
