San Jose State University president has announced her resignation amid sexual harassment allegations against her former director of sport medicine.
The following is an extract from the Associated PressMary Papazian resigned after the Justice Department ordered that the university pay $1.6 million to 13 female student-athletes after their sexual assault complaints were mishandled.
Papazian, who was elected president in 2016, issued a statement. saidOn Dec. 20, she would be stepping down.
According to the Associated Press, federal prosecutors discovered that female student-athletes were sexually harassed beginning in 2009.
Shaw resigned last summer and has denied any wrongdoing.
