Sacramento, California (Associated Press)-The vote ended in the California recall election on Tuesday, which could lead to the stepping down of Governor Gavin Newsom. The game depends on how voters judge the Democratic governor’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. Determine whether the most populous country in the country will adopt a more conservative stance.
Newsom is the fourth American governor, and the second governor from California to be recalled. Newsom was elected with a narrow margin less than three years ago. He would be eligible for reelection next time he wins the election, if he can survive the attempt to remove him.
After greeting volunteers in San Francisco, Newsom stated earlier in the day: “I feel good as long as you can vote.”
The voters were asked two questions: Is Newsom to be removed from office? If so, then who should replace him. Although there were 46 choices on the ballot, the focus was primarily on Larry Elder, Republican talk radio host, who is trying to become California’s first black governor.
If Newsom is voted out by the majority, the winner of the second question will be elected governor. If Newsom is kept by the voters, the result of the second questions will not be relevant. Anybody who is in line after voting may vote.
The result will be interpreted as a clue to the 2022 midterm elections, when Congress’s control will come into play again. In the past, the White House has been dominated by the same parties that lost their seats during the midterm elections.
Newsom’s loss in Newsom’s state, where there are close to 2 to 1 registered Republicans and Democrats, would be a shocking condemnation by voters. National Democrats will also be embarrassed by this result. Joe Biden, President of the United States, met Newsom just before the election and offered him the opportunity to show that science and leadership are important.
In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday night, Elder said he was confident in the Republican Party’s turnout rate in person. The Democratic Party has won the mail-in vote for almost a month. Republicans want their votes to turn out at the polling place.
Californians defeated Gray Davis, the Democratic Governor of California, and elected Schwarzenegger as their new governor. The actor of “Terminator”, won re-election in 2006. This is the last time that a Republican candidate has been elected to statewide office in California.
The recall was mainly due to anger at Newsom’s actions during the pandemic, including the implementation of the nation’s first statewide shutdown order. Critics claim that Newsom’s strict methods led to the closure of businesses and prevented children from attending school for longer periods. Newsom stated that his actions saved lives.
“I’m very angry. This should be an option. What is this? Dictatorship?” Janet Webb, aged 69, asked Janet about Elder’s voting record.
She said the quarrel about Newsom’s handling of the pandemic split her family and friends and might prompt her to move out of the state.
