Mexico City (apro).- Since the next World Cup is in winter, Liga MX must change the 2022 Apertura Schedule.
The Qatar World Cup, unlike the one held in summer before it, will now be held in winter. Changes in the Middle East’s climate are the key factors.
Liga MX President stated in an interview that Mexico’s next Championship, “Apertura 2022”, will be modified as many other world leagues. This is to prepare for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
These changes will be made immediately by the Mexican Football Federation and their owners.
“The calendar is being revised. We are reviewing our calendar. Then, in the first week of December we will submit the calendar project for approval to the owners and the Federation. “We are likely to complete half the year before schedule for these options To ensure their progress prior to the World Cup,” said the leader.
Arriola believes that Apetura could be eliminated from the 2022 playoffs, in order to benefit players recruited by the team.
“We don’t know if there’ll be reechage. We want to review this season’s results. This will not affect your ability to play reechage. However, it will be something we want to talk about,” concluded Mikel Arriola.
