Memphis authorities say that a juvenile shot at school by a suspect has been arrested.
According to Memphis PoliceAt 9:15 on Thursday morning, officers arrived at Cummings Elementary school to find a 13 year-old boy shot.
Police said that the student was taken to a nearby hospital in critical, but stable condition.
Police believe the suspect was another student who fled the scene in a vehicle shortly after the shooting.
Later, police confirmed that the juvenile male suspect had surrendered and was now in custody.
Shelby County SchoolsCummings K-8 is where the shooting took place. It houses grades kindergarten through eighth.
Officials from the school stated on social media that they are in lockdown and that parents were notified.
According to police, the school was evacuated.
Officials claimed that the motive behind the shooting remains unknown and that an investigation is ongoing.
