WASHINGTON (AP) — A US official says Americans will meet with senior Taliban officials for talks to facilitate the evacuation of foreigners and some Afghans from Afghanistan.
Talks will be held in Doha (Qatar) on Saturday and Sunday. Afghan Taliban leaders will make pledging to allow Americans and foreigners to leave Afghanistan.
Because the US official could not speak by name about the meetings, the spokesperson spoke on condition that anonymity.
Biden’s administration filed complaints and questions about the slow pace of US-sanctioned withdrawals from Taliban-ruled Afghanistan after the last US diplomats and troops left in August.
