North Korea claims it has successfully tested long-range cruise missiles.
The country will conduct its first known testing activity for months over the weekend. It would show how it continues to increase its military capabilities in the face of a deadlock in the nuclear negotiations with America.
The Korean Central News Agency reported Monday that cruise missiles had hit 1,500km of targets on Saturday and Sunday.
As a response to Kim Jong Un’s call to strengthen the nation’s military might and praise its new weapons, the North said that they were a “strategic instrument of great significance”.
According to the US Indo-Pacific Command, North Korean activity is an indication of the danger it poses for the international community.
