This announcement is closely related to the protests of actor Tom Cruise. Actor Tom Cruise returned his three Golden Globe Awards to HFPA this morning
Mexico City- The NBC network officially canceled the 2022 Golden Globe awards ceremony, and the network issued a statement obtained by sites such as variety shows and deadlines to explain its decision.
The suspension of the festival was due to growing controversy surrounding the necessary reforms of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (the organization that hosted the Golden Globe Awards).
NBC said in a statement on the morning of May 10: “We still believe that HFPA is committed to major reforms.”
“However, such a huge change requires time and work, and we firmly believe that HFPA needs time to get it right. Therefore, NBC will not broadcast the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes its plan, we hope to broadcast it in January 2023 Out the show.”
After being complained by the Los Angeles Times earlier this year, HFPA faced various controversies and criticisms for alleged corruption and lack of diversity.
The committee behind the award promised “transformative change” after exposing the absence of black members of the HFPA for decades and the alleged corruption.
This announcement added to the protest of actor Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise returned his three Golden Globe Awards to the HFPA this morning in protest, and Scarlett ·Johnson (Scarlett Johansson) urged his colleagues to withdraw from the union on the grounds that they were suspected of sex discrimination.
The award organization did not comment on the cancellation of the 2022 award ceremony.
