Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, pitted in Worcester to meet with children and families who benefited from President Biden’s child tax credit and propose a bill to expand access to affordable childcare services. Includes free preschool.
“Children’s tax credits are what we focus on. Pelosi stated, “This makes a big change.” “We don’t want back to where we were when we move beyond the president’s slogan of’rebuild better.’ We are determined to achieve more than this.
Biden’s US$3.5 trillion social expenditure plan aims to extend or permanently retain some of the benefits provided by Biden’s US rescue plan, including tax credits. US Rep. Jim McGovern said that the plan is “working hard” to help those in need Of families survive the pandemic.
Worcester Congressmen met with parents at Rainbow Child Development Center on Thursday with Pelosi. There, Pelosi announced that McGovern will lead the powerful House Rules Committee. The bill was presented by the House of Representatives.
Pelosi declared, “You heard that here first.”
Pelosi stated that the bill passed a committee hearing, and could be introduced as soon as this month.
Officials warn that the bill, even if it is passed in the Democratic-led House of Representatives will not be able to pass in the divided Senate.
Pelosi stated that the “budget warfare” was fought hard because of the high cost of the bill. She also said that the Democratic Party “fights proudly to protect the children.”
“Sadly, some of our colleagues—especially those on the other side—do not agree with our values. McGovern stated that Republicans are all a battle.
The Republican National Committee immediately criticized the powerful Democrats for leaving Washington in the ongoing Afghan withdrawal crisis triggered by Biden’s failure to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.
“When Americans are still trapped in Afghanistan, Nancy Pelosi’s promotion of the Democratic agenda is inappropriate and insensitive. Pelosi should return to Washington, D.C. and demand a response to Biden’s failure to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. Rachel Lee, spokesperson of the RNC said.
After speaking at Smith College, Northampton, on Wednesday night, Pelosi visited Worcester.
