MISSOULA, Mont. — A mother is accused of murder for the death of her two young childrenMonday afternoon, appeared in Missoula courtroom.
Leanna Gardipe (34), is charged with murdering the couple at their Missoula home Friday morning.
Her next hearing is scheduled for December 6. She will likely undergo a psychological evaluation.
Judge Alex Beal directed Gardipe not to release a bond of $10 million.
Judge Alex Beal said, “I don’t know what or why this happened. But I believe you pose the greatest threat to the community and yourself.” “There is no bail you could pay where you could be safely released from prison, so my job is to establish an amount that you cannot place.
He stated that he had placed her bond at $10 million as he thought it was impossible to make.
Missoula County sheriff’s deputies responded immediately to a report about a murder at 8:08 a.m. Friday at the home on Patty Ann Drive.
Gardipe’s mother reported to 911 that Gardipe had called her daughter and Gardipe claimed she “saved” her babies.
She then asked the defendant if it meant that she had killed her children. The defendant started to cry.
Gardipe called 911 shortly after and reported that she was investigating a murder.
Gardipe stated to 911 that the incident occurred that morning, and that it took place with a knife.
The defendant asked for a medical shipment. Gardipe said in indictment papers that Gardipe would “die today”.
The children were found in bed by the Sheriff’s deputies with knife wounds on their hands and defensive marks on their hands.
When law enforcement officers executed search warrants at the house, they discovered a note left on the doorstep of the bedroom in which the children were found. The note read: ” [i]It was the only possible way we could all avoid burning, and now it’s mine. The knife was found under the bed by the officers.
