NEW YORK – Despite his suicide Jeffrey Epstein will be tried by a trustee in the next weeks. It will be his ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell.
Maxwell, who is 59 years old, will face a federal court in Manhattan on Nov. 29 over allegations that she encouraged underage girls to have unwelcome sex.
According to BloombergMaxwell is facing six charges in connection with sextrafficking, conspiracy, and seduction minors for Epstein. Two perjury charges will be brought against Maxwell, which will be tried later.
All allegations have been denied by the British socialite.
To dispel prejudice, the judge will summon more than 600 potential jurors to court on Monday.
Just before opening statements on November 29th, the highly anticipated trial begins, 12 judges and six deputies from each side will be chosen.
Epstein was charged with sexually abusing multiple girls and was taken into custody in July 2019. In prison, Epstein committed suicide a month later.
Epstein had was previously in prison for 13 monthsThis was in connection to Epstein’s 2008 Florida conviction for prostitution and solicitation. Experts refer to Epstein’s conviction as a “sweetheart” deal with local prosecutors.
