LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles jury has begun deliberating in the murder trial of New York real estate heir Robert Durst in the shooting of his best friend.
Three hours of deliberations were held Tuesday by jurors without reaching a decision.
Durst denies that Susan Berman was murdered. In 2000, she was murdered in Texas. Investigators claim that she was gunned down in an “execution style” murder.
Prosecutors allege that he murdered her in Texas because she was a false alibi after his wife disappeared in New York in 1982.
Bob Durst isn’t insane. According to The Associated Press John Lewin, Deputy District attorney John Durst said that he isn’t a serial killer and nut job who lives for the thrill. “Don’t let this narcissistic, psychopath get away for what he has done.”
Defense claims that the prosecution did not provide evidence to support their theory.
Durst could be sentenced to a life imprisonment if he is convicted.
The trial started in March 2013 and was then delayed to May by the COVID-19 epidemic.
After HBO’s 2015 HBO documentary “The Jinx”, Durst’s story was highlighted and covered by international media. Durst was detained in connection to Berman’s death the day before the series finale.
