TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — The state of Florida’s ban on coronavirus mask mandates in schools will stay in effect.
A case challenging the rule was dismissed by a judge Friday. The case was rejected by Brian A. Newman, an administrative judge, from Miami-Dade and Leon counties.
It was able to find Gov. Ron DeSantis was within its power to impose this rule.
The ruling is part a quarrel between districts and state which has resulted both in the docketing of school board salaries as well as the withholding of district funds.
It has also drawn the ire of U.S. Department of Education.
