Jon Gruden is no more the coach for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Gruden stated in a statement that he had resigned as the Head Coach for the Las Vegas Raiders. I love the Raiders, and don’t want them to become a distraction. All Raider Nation coaches, players, staff, and fans, thank you. I am sorry. I did not mean to hurt anyone.
Gruden resigned just hours later The New York TimesPublished a report that Gruden made homophobic comments and misogynistic remarks in the past.
The Raiders are only NFL team to have an openly homosexual player. Carl Nassib came out prior to the start of the season.
Gruden had already apologized to Gruden for using a racist trope within an email, first reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Commentators on the Wall Street Journal article stated that they supported their coach.
“All the guys were talking about how they felt and how they felt” [Gruden]He treats the players. He is a player coach. Everyone was just… overanalyzing. It won’t affect our boys because we’re getting mixed-up,” ESPN quoted Raiders driving Josh Jacobs back.
Gruden was in the fourth year of his Raiders contract. Gruden was on a 10-year deal worth $100M.
