WASHINGTON (AP) — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot has subpoenaed a former Justice Department attorney who positioned himself as an ally of former President Donald Trump.
Last week, a Senate committee report shows how Clark defended Trump’s efforts to reverse election results in the Justice Department and clashed strongly with his superiors.
“We need to know the role played by Mr. Clark in the efforts at the Justice Department, and who was involved throughout his administration. Chairman Bennie said that Mr. Clark should cooperate fully in our investigation. G. Thompson
The subpoena is issued amid mounting congressional investigations. At least three officials involved in the organizing of the violent riots have given documents to the committee in response to subpoenas.
