ROME (AP), Upon serving the bulk of his 16 year sentence, Meredith Kercher was released.
Italian news agencies LaPresse & ANSA quoted Fabrizio Bellarini, a lawyer, as saying that Rudy Guede was not released on January 4. He had been delayed by a judge for a few weeks. He was released on Tuesday.

After Kercher’s American friend Amanda Knox and Knox’s boyfriend were charged, the murder in Perugia became international news.
After a series flip-flop decision, both were initially convicted. However, the highest court in Italy overturned their convictions in 2015.
Guede denied Kercher’s murder.
