Apple stated that iOS is more secure than Android, according to specialists. It does not allow the lateral downloading of apps.
Apple’s operating systems offer many benefits and advantages that are not available in its competition. However, iOS has one major drawback: it is impossible to download applications from other routes to the App store.
Sideloading is the issue we are referring to, and it has become more relevant since Apple refused to allow the operation of its App Store to be open in terms of licenses and payments.
Apple is aware of the implications this could have on its closed ecosystem, and therefore its business, so it has issued a response to the Digital Markets Law proposal by the European Commission. This document could require Apple to allow third-party downloads for iPhone apps in Europe.
The Cupertino giant, which is also known as Cupertino, stated that iOS’ closed download system only benefits the security and privacy its users. This makes iOS superior to Android.
It was a powerful blow. In the document entitled Building a Trusted Ecosystem for Millions of Apps, Apple cited the threat intelligence reports from Nokia 2019 and 2020 which concluded that devices running Android have an “estimated 15 to 47 times more infections from malicious software »than iOS devices.
Apple stated that iOS is safer than Android due to the fact it does not permit the lateral downloading apps.
It also stated that it would not be surprised if sideloading was admitted to its platform. However, users will still have control over their security.
This is for now the response to a draft law. While it doesn’t guarantee it will be implemented, it could gain weight against Epic Games. Epic Games could threaten its business.
