On the tightrope of the National University Softball Championship held in Estadio Juárez
Ciudad Juarez—— Having suffered two painful defeats this Monday, UACJ’s Indian team played on the wire ropes of the National University Softball Championship, which was held in the city’s Juarez Stadium.
The Indian team now has a record of three wins and one loss.
The ninth indigenous team lost to University of Guadalajara at noon. Sinaloa won the evening with the same score, 6-2.
Monday saw the UACJ match Sinaloa. Both schools were equal in four of the four first games. But in the fifth episode Sinaloa won a four point bouquet. It was an important advantage at that time.
The event featured nine teams, which used a round-robin method. The top two places will be competing for the gold medal Wednesday night. Third and fourth will compete on the same day for the bronze.
In the sixth round, Andrea Beltrán added a fifth game for the visitors, which meant a very heavy block for the girls led by manager Enrique Varela.
Two lines were added by the Indian team in the sixth inning. It was a moment that fans longed for. Although it seemed like the offense needed more, Belen Andrade’s penalty box was sufficient to save the third inning.
The Indian team will face the University of Guanajuato on Tuesday at 9:00 AM. UACH will measure at 5:00 PM. To maintain their medal hopes, they must win at least two games.
