MELROSE, Mass. (AP) – A Massachusetts property that has been severely damaged by fire was put on the market today with an asking price $399,000.
WBZ-TV reported Monday the listing for Melrose’s home, which is a suburb in Boston, was evidence of the hot market for housing.
According to industry groups, the median price for single-family homes in the state was $535,000 to $552,000.
The online listing of the burnt three-bedroom, 1,857-square-foot (173-meter) home starts by calling contractors. It continues with: “House needs a complete renovation, or potential tear down, and rebuild.” Buyer to do due diligence. House being sold “as is.”
The house was set on fire by an August fire that destroyed its front windows. The Boston Globe reported that firefighters had the task of removing parts of the ceiling and walls of the house to put out the flames.
