The House voted to provide Israel with $1 billion dollars for its Iron Dome missile defense system.
After progressive Democrats cut funding for emergency spending bills, the standalone bill was brought to the table.
The financing measure was passed with 420-9 votes.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., spoke against the bill, saying it is “absurd and unjustifiable,” according to The Associated Press. Tlaib is the daughter of Palestinian immigrant parents.
Other Democrats spoke in favor of this bill, which they claim will bring in pure money for Israel’s defence.
“Let me repeat: This funding, as the language of the bill clearly indicates, is limited to a system that is completely defensive,” said Rosa DeLauro, chair of House Appropriations. Politics.
Now the Senate will vote on the bill.
