The police said he was lucky to be alive
Authorities said on Tuesday that a man tried to escape the California Highway Patrol, rammed a retaining wall, wedged the vehicle under the bridge of the Oakland Highway, and damaged his girlfriend’s Maserati SUV.
“The driver is lucky to be alive. The owner of Maserati…not so lucky,” wrote on social media, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) uploaded photos of the crashed luxury car.
Police said the 32-year-old man was speeding on Monday when a patrol officer tried to stop him. The highway spokesperson, Agent Arias, said it accelerated at a speed of more than 100 miles per hour (160 kilometers per hour), then pulled out an exit, turned around a curve, climbed over the retaining wall, and finally Drive under the highway.
