Berry, 55 years old, stated that Jackie Masayoshi was an ex-mixed martial arts player at a Zoom press conference.
“She is in MMA. Although I have seen a lot more boxing, I have never seen MMA. It is a fighting game and it always wins. I’ve always enjoyed the story of the fighter’s loser.
“But this is for a 21-25-year-old Irish Catholic white lady. This is how it should work for me.
Jackie was “a black woman of middle age, living in a community that I don’t know.” She said that she hadn’t seen the movie yet. “This is my only reason to tell a different story in this genre. Make it unique.
All this took place before there was even a director for Scarred.
Berry believed that “just playing this role, despite all the training I have to get,” was enough.
It’s more than just boxing for MMA. It encompasses all disciplines, including jiu jitsu and taekwondo, boxing, wrestling, and Taekwondo. As an actor, it is clear that I will be on a long road. A complete set.
Berry realized that not everyone who she spoke to understood what she saw when it was time to pick a director. It would have been difficult for me to see the world from my head if I didn’t put it down on paper.
“After searching for a while, I thought it sounded crazy. However, I told my producer, ‘I think I should be directing.’ Surprise, they agreed.
“I’m glad that they agreed. Jackie’s journey through this tale is very inwardly revealing.
Filming the climax of her boxing sequence took five days. She broke two of her ribs the next day and kept the secret throughout the fight. “I know that they will shut us all down. If I tell the truth, they will not allow me to come back.”
Berry can “create a universe that I know to be 100% real.” I have lived in many different places. Many of these characters were inspired by people I actually know. I can see the fragility of humanity.”
“I know that we all struggle for other opportunities, make mistakes, and seek salvation. I know what it means for a woman to be a mother. I believe I have always been a fighter in my life.”
