Did you be born between 2001-2003? You are very lucky. For the European Year of Youth, 2022, 60,000 young people have the chance to travel by train for free across the EU for a period of 30 days. For this, they can directly apply to the European Commission.
This action is part the DiscoverEU program, and it is open to all EU citizens.
A chance exists for young people between January 1st 2001 and December 31st 2003 to win a rail pass which allows them to travel anywhere in Europe for up 30 days. In this way, the chosen participants can “broaden their horizons and meet other Europeans,” according to the commission.
Register on the website to be eligible for a chance at winning. DiscoverEUThe registrations for this event open on Tuesday, October 12th at 12 noon CEST. In a quiz, the participants will be asked a series of questions about Europe. Register as an individual, or in a group up to four.
The free rail pass is available to selected young people between March 2022-2023. DiscoverEU hopes young people will experience the European Union benefits, including the freedom to travel across Europe, the opportunity to meet new cultures and languages and the chance to discover the beauty of Europe. DiscoverEU is a way for young people to learn important skills that will benefit them in the future. These include independence, self-confidence, and an open mind to learning about other cultures.
The committee also organized a similar campaign in 2018 when 70,000 young people received a rail pass. The action was temporarily halted by corona. However, young people will be able to return to the road next year to explore their neighbouring countries.
