Governor Greg Abbott said the suspect has been arrested
Texas Police said one person was killed and four others were seriously injured in a shooting at a cabinet company’s production plant in Blaine, Texas on Thursday.
Governor Greg Abbott said a suspect has been arrested. The person’s name was not released immediately.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said a police officer was shot and killed while pursuing a person believed to be the assailant. The agency said the official’s situation was serious but stable.
Abbott said in a statement: “The government will assist in taking all necessary actions to prosecute the suspect.” “Cecilia and I are praying for the victims and their families and law enforcement officers who were injured during the arrest of the suspect.”
Police said they had responded to reports of a shooting at 350 Stone City Drive in Blaine at around 2:30 pm local time, where Kent Moore cabinets were made and at least seven victims were found.
Lat. Jason James, a spokesman for the Brian Police Department, said one person suffered minor injuries and the other received medical emergency. He said all the victims were taken to the local hospital.
Lieutenant James said that it is unclear whether the gunman was an employee of Kent Moore.
When the police arrived, he said, “I’m done.”
Lieutenant Colonel James said investigators were interviewing employees at the Kentmoor plant.
