Facebook Protect allows you “to adopt more stringent security precautions, such as 2-step authentication.”
Facebook appears to be especially interested in communicating security and safety with its users after a significant reputation crisis that saw its services plummet by one million dollars.
Instagram revealed that it was already developing a tool to notify users when its service crashes, in order for them to provide accurate information.
Facebook has now revealed a mysterious message inviting users to sign up for its Facebook Protect program.
Many users reported via social networks that they were “invited” to activate the functions. If they don’t, they would lose access.
The message seems to be clear enough
Facebook has not yet issued a position in the matter denying or confirming said message. But, these events have raised doubts about the mysterious request that could potentially expose your profile to thousands of people.
While we wait to confirm the reason for this message’s existence, it is useful to recall what Facebook Protect is and what it means to users who activate it.
This program was launched in 2019 and, according to the blog post of the social network it is an initiative to prevent users from becoming “victims to malicious people on social networks.”
