The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced Monday that Josie’s Organics baby-spinach was being recalled.
The CDC states that the product was sold in retail stores across the country and has an expiration date set for October 23, 2021.
The CDC released a statement online stating that officials in Minnesota found E. coli O157.H7 in a package containing leftover baby spinach from Josie’s Organics. It was taken from a home with a patient. “Five people in this outbreak reported eating spinach the week before they got sick and 1 reported the Josie’s Organics brand.
According to the CDC, people have reported being sick in Minnesota and South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri. Indiana. Michigan. Ohio.
The spinach has been associated with 10 illnesses so far and two hospitalizations.
Josie’s Organics baby-spinach customers are asked to either toss it or return it to their original place of purchase.
