Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of three counts of murder for the death of George Floyd.
After ten hours of deliberations by a jury in a court in Hennepin County, Minnesota, the Minneapolis police officer (Derek Chauvin) was convicted of murder for the death of his African-American George Floyd. Was found guilty.
The 12 members of the public jury found that Chauvin was convicted of the second involuntary murder, the third murder and the second murder due to Floyd’s death in May 2020, when he pressed the victim with his knees. The neck is over nine minutes.
The sentence for manslaughter at the second level is not more than 40 years in prison, while the sentence for murder at the third level can be sentenced to a maximum of 25 years’ imprisonment.
The sentence for second-degree murder is not more than ten years and is punishable by a fine of $20,000.
