Felipe Meza, who has 15 years of cyclist experience, decided to conduct a pedaling challenge for 24 hours to collect toys that will be delivered to low-income children in the city on April 30.
This activity is called “24-hour trampling toys.” The Rotary Club also organized a child without toys. The Rotary Club is also an active member of Meza.
At 2:00 pm on April 24 (Saturday), Felipe Meza will start cycling on the Pablo Darancou bike path, and will make the last ride at 2:00 pm on Sunday 25th .
On the starting flag, he will accompany Soles de Ciudad Juárez team cyclists from 6 to 12 years, and during the time Meza circles the 600-meter oval, he may be with other cyclists, sponsors and even people from the community Accompanying must follow certain rules.
“I have been a member of the Rotary Club for 15 years. I was at an event in Aguascalientes and they did something similar, but they ran for 12 hours without stopping. That was for Help a milk bank. So this is the idea I thought of, but collect toys to make this idea,” Mesa said.
Felipe was 52 years old. He was only 15 years old at the time. He was a cyclist. He started practicing this sport from the beginning of his health, but then gradually led him to participate in different local, state and national competitions. He won the 2015 Masters category of the Pan American Championship in Puerto Rico.
“I want to give an example, because before I started cycling, I weighed 118 kg, and now I am 1.80 meters tall and weigh 75 kg. So I do this for health and to eliminate bad habits. Some friends Invited me to exercise and suggested that I “ride a bicycle”. I bought one and then I found someone to study. That inspired me and it really changed my life.”
For this race, Meza said he must ride quietly so that he can endure 24 hours, and calculated an average speed of 28 to 30 kilometers per hour. In addition to consuming potassium and magnesium supplements when pedaling, hydration is also important to avoid cramps.
“The challenge is to get toys. In order for citizens to show solidarity, we have to bring joy to the children.”
