Rio de Janeiro-According to a Thursday statement by the Health Center, Bailey was discharged after receiving treatment for almost a month at the hospital.
The former football player aged 80 had his colon cancer removed on September 4, and was admitted to the intensive care unit for several days.
“The patient is stable and will continue to receive chemotherapy,” said a doctor at Albert Einstein Hospital in a statement. He did not offer further details.
Recent posts by the Brazilian star on social media have shown his recovery at the clinic. The tumor was discovered in a routine examination in August.
Pele was instrumental in the Brazil’s victory at the World Cup in 1962, 1970 and 1958. He still holds the record for Brazil’s historical scoring, scoring 77 goals across 92 games.
