HOUSTON (AP), Texans say at least eight people were killed and many others were injured by a crowd surge that occurred during Travis Scott’s performance at Friday’s Astroworld music festival.
The Associated PressIt was reported that officials called it a “mass casualty accident” shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday.
According to the Houston fire chief, the crowd started to condense towards the front of the stage. This caused some panic among the people.
Shortly after injuries, the show was stopped.
According to the fire chief 17 people have been taken to hospitals, 11 of them with cardiac arrest.
According to the news outlet it is not clear if the eight people who died were among 17 people admitted to hospitals.
Festival attendees were estimated to be around 50,000.
Scott was joined by Drake on the stage during the concert which was streamed live via Apple Music.
The Associated Press reports that Saturday’s broadcast has been cancelled.
