GREENSBORO (N.C.) — Police in North Carolina shot and fatally shot a man Friday, responding to a report by a caller that someone was trying to enter a house. Authorities said
According to Greensboro police, Joseph Thomas Lee Lopez (29), died in the shooting. The identity of the officer that fatally shot Lopez is not yet known.
According to the News & Record officers responded to a call from a person looking for Lopez at a residence at 10:30 p.m. Lopez found them in a shed next to the caller’s property.
Police stated in a news release that one officer fired his weapon at the subject while confronting him.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
Lopez was shot by an officer. This is a standard procedure following a fatal shooting.
