DETROIT — After an on-court altercation following a bloody interaction between Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James and Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart, both players have been suspended without pay.
The league announced Monday that James received a one-game suspension with no pay for “recklessly striking Stewart in the face” and initiating an altercation on the court.
Stewart was suspended for two games without pay after he “escalated an on-court altercation by aggressively and repeatedly following Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron Jones in an unsportsmanlike way.”
Tuesday will be a day off for both players.
Stewart will not also play Wednesday.
James was present during the third quarter at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday. elbowed Stewart in the face.
Stewart was initially whistled for a loose-ball foul, but officials looked into it and James was given a flagrant two foul, while Stewart was assessed two technical fouls, and was then ejected.
Footage shows that both the Pistons (the Lakers) and the Pistons were forced to be disassociated multiple times following the incident.
